The herringbone half double crochet stitch is a variation on the half double crochet stitch. It is so easy to do (I was certainly surprised) and creates a lovely linked fabric. This post includes 3 different sizes for afghan squares or dishcloths and the stitch multiple to allow you to make a project to any size once you have mastered the new stitch. A video tutorial is also included to show you how to make the stitch.

Initial chain 2 counts as 1 hdc stitch. This means we do not work an additional hhdc into the first stitch of the row. You may wish to mark the first stitch (chain 2) with a stitch marker to remind yourself to work into it at the end of each row.
